From the Founders: A New Chapter for KitBash3D and Greyscalegorilla

To our community, the artists, builders, and dreamers who’ve grown with us:

Thank you.

Since the beginning, you’ve been right there with us. You’ve built worlds, pushed boundaries, and transformed Kits into entire universes. You’ve taken part in challenges, sent us your stories, and shared your work with the world. We’ve seen your passion, your creativity, and your commitment to the craft. We’ve never taken that for granted.

Everything we’ve made at KitBash3D has been created with you in mind. From Kits to Cargo, from tutorials to tools, our mission has always been to enable and inspire creators of the virtual frontier. That mission has been shaped by you – your feedback, your work, and your belief in what we’re building together.

We’ve also seen the challenges. The creative process can be filled with friction. Tools don’t always talk to each other. Pipelines break. Innovation can be slowed by complexity. And yet, you keep showing up and creating something incredible. We believe creators deserve a better experience.

That’s why today’s announcement means so much to us.

We’re joining forces with our longtime friends at Greyscalegorilla. We’ve known them for years (fun fact: GSG was the first sponsor of our first challenge in 2017!) and have always admired their focus on quality, their love for artists, and their deep care for the tools they create. Over time, we realized we weren’t just on a similar path. We’ve been trying to solve the same problems for the same community in different ways.

By coming together, we believe we can go further. We want to build the kind of company we’ve always dreamed of. One that gives artists the tools they need, the support they deserve, and a place where creativity flows freely.

We’re excited to share more about what this next chapter looks like. Below is a letter from the 3 of us, including Nick, our longtime friend and the founder of Greyscalegorilla, about why we’ve come together and what it means for the future.

A Note From Our Founders

To our friends and fellow artists,

GSG and KB3D have come together because we believe something deeply:

The world needs great 3D tools and creators deserve companies that put them first.

From the beginning, KitBash3D and Greyscalegorilla have been working toward a shared vision to empower 3D artists. We’ve just been approaching it from different angles. What brought us together is the same belief that has always guided our work: help artists make their best work and bring their ideas to life.

This merger lets us go further and move faster. It gives us the ability to combine our strengths, share what we’ve learned, and start solving even bigger problems for the artists we serve.

We’re standing at a moment of incredible change. Workflows are reshaping. Platforms are shifting. The tools we rely on are evolving every day. It can be exciting and overwhelming at once. But through all of it, one thing matters most to us:

The artist stays at the forefront.

Together, we’ll explore new frontiers and build tools that are intuitive, powerful, and open. Tools that work the way artists think. Tools that help you express your vision without getting in the way. As new technologies reshape the way we create, we believe they should be built with intention. They should support the creative process, not replace it. They should amplify your voice, not diminish it.

We’re also deeply committed to culture. We will continue to build a company that values craft and curiosity. A place where artists feel supported, not squeezed. We know what it feels like to work inside broken pipelines or use tools that don’t speak the same language. We’ve lived it too. And we’re here to make that better.

There’s much more to come, and we can’t wait to share it with you. But for now, we want you to know that everything you love about Greyscalegorilla and KitBash3D is staying right where it is. The products, subscriptions, support, and services will continue uninterrupted. All three founders are staying on, and our teams are more excited than ever to take this next step together.

If you have questions, we’ve put together a short FAQ. And if you just want to say hello, we’re always listening and would love to hear from you.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Thank you for believing in what we’re building, and for placing your trust in us all these years. We can’t wait to see what you create next.

— Nick, Maxx & Banks, Co-Founders KitBash3D/Greyscalegorilla
