We were thrilled to have him on this episode of the KitBash3d Festival

Learn how Bobby overcame rejection from art school, losing his entire portfolio, and staying positive even when his first five movie projects never came out...

If you don't have time to watch this 30+ minute episode where Bobby Chiu speaks candidly about the struggles and triumphs of his career and shares how you can do the same, watch the quick cuts of inspiration below!

Every artist has an origin story. Bobby took a leap of faith when he dropped out of business school to go to art school, except the only problem was that he didn't get into art school! He was crushed, but after being forced to take a job at a warehouse, he finally saved up enough money to try and go freelance full-time, only to lose his entire portfolio to a broken computer drive the same exact day he quit his job.

"I lost everything that very first day I decided to go freelance full-time."

What's the process of designing creatures for a movie like Alice in Wonderland?

Bobby tells the quick story of a father in Sri Lanka who put his kids through Schoolism.

EVEN WHEN HIS FIRST FIVE MOVIES DIDN'T COME OUT, Bobby kept going. Shortly after, he became one of only three character designers on Disney's Alice in Wonderland and the movie became one of the highest grossing films of all time during its theatrical run. In this episode, Bobby takes us from his humble beginnings to his successful, multi-faceted career in an industry where talent (that's a prerequisite) doesn't indicate whether or not you'll succeed, but rather, whether or not you have the will to persevere.
