This week, we’re thrilled to unveil our newest Kit, Enchanted Interiors, now available in Cargo and on our web store. This Kit transports you into the heart of magical realms, offering a richly detailed collection of fantasy-inspired environments, from candlelit wizard studies and paladin armories to royal halls and necromancer lairs.
Enchanted Interiors is packed with immersive props - potions, chests, baskets, tables, and tools - that help you build atmospheric scenes filled with story and character. Whether you’re designing an ancient fortress, a cursed crypt, or a cozy magical library, the Kit’s modular design makes it easy to bring your vision to life with cinematic depth and texture.
In this edition of our Behind the Kit series, we sat down with the artists who conjured these mystical spaces. Learn how they designed each interior to feel both magical and lived-in, from weathered stone walls and glowing glyphs to the tiniest alchemical detail.
What was your favorite part about working on Enchanted Interiors?
"I absolutely loved the theme of the Kit! I really enjoyed designing each individual interior. You can see many interesting stories told in each, such as references to monster hunting in the Tavern, altars and cursed wells in the Necromancer's Lair, the tree around which the entire interior of the Wizard's Office is built, the testing strip in the Paladin's Armory, and of course the Throne Room itself with many references to traditional medieval attributes of power." - Vlad Shlenov, Concept Artist
“Honestly the concept of fantasy in and of itself was what made this so much fun to work on. I had just recently gotten into playing Dungeons and Dragons and my first character was a paladin. When I worked on the armory, it was really fun to imagine the type of training and environment my character might have gone through prior to his quest.” - Joseph Sylvester, 3D Modeler
“Planning this project was my favorite part because it allowed us to not get overwhelmed by the volume of small objects. Of course, one of my favorite moments here was creating materials and studying the interiors of the Middle Ages, as well as some TV series, for example Game of Thrones, which were excellent references for interiors. Pay attention to our walls made of bones, they turned out ominously alluring.” - Aleksei Druzhkov, Texture Artist
What was the most challenging part about this Kit?
"The challenge was twofold in this case. First, KitBash3D already has Enchanted, so as the name of this Kit suggests, it was necessary to maintain the same style, balance of forms, and shape language as the original Kit. Secondly, this Kit had to reference fantasy (with monsters, magic, etc.), but at the same time had to be down-to-earth (i.e., so that the magic in it worked like in Game of Thrones, unobtrusively). This all led to a number of interesting decisions. For example, in the Wizard's Office you will see a huge number of bookshelves, telescopes, blueprints, globes, which will refer to the more scientific nature of magic in this universe." - Vlad Shlenov, Concept Artist
What was the biggest thing you learned while developing the Kit?
"As with all historical Kits, you have to work a lot with references, so a lot is drawn from history, as in this case. In many ways, the stylistic basis of the Kit is based on the features of Romanesque architecture (with thick walls, small and narrow windows, and more)." - Vlad Shlenov, Concept Artist
Is there anything about Enchanted Interiors you'd like to highlight or shout out?
"Amazing work by the whole team! Amazing attention to detail from Joe and Mohammad and incredible work with materials from Alexey and Alex! I am really happy with how this Kit turned out." - Vlad Shlenov, Concept Artist
"I want to shout out the texture team. They did an amazing job with the textures for this Kit and I was floored when I first saw even just the work-in-progress images. I also want to shout out Mohammad, the other modeler on this Kit. The Wizard's Office turned out amazing!" - Joseph Sylvester, 3D Modeler
“I hope you enjoy the little adventure through the magical Middle Ages that we have prepared for you.
From concepts born to models made,
From ideas forged to art displayed,
From textures rich to materials bright,
This world awaits its vassals' might." - Aleksei Druzhkov, Texture Artist
Do you have a favorite asset from the Kit?
"Definitely the Wizards Office and the Necromancers Lair. I will definitely be playing with those and creating my own scene with them." - Joseph Sylvester, 3D Modeler
"I mainly worked on the environments, walls and interiors in this project and I hope you really enjoy my attention to detail in Wizard Office and Necromancers Lair's bone walls." - Aleksei Druzhkov, Texture Artist
"My favorite part was the Wizard's Office, which has a large colorful window and a beautifully placed tall tree inside the office, all beautifully designed by Vlad." - Mohammad Afshari, 3D Modeler
Was there anything that surprised you about this theme or the Kit while you worked on it?
"Sometimes it’s hard to believe that people in the Middle Ages, without electricity and the modern machines we know, were able to carve such beautiful Romanesque patterns in stone or decorate entire rooms with wooden patterns on walls and furniture." - Aleksei Druzhkov, Texture Artist
