What was your favorite part about working on World War 2?

"Seeing the Kit come together from concepts to the final set dressing. World War 2 was a heart-wrenching time in history and there are so many stories of perseverance, survival, and the will to fight for what is right. Seeing those stories come to life in this Kit was amazing and I look forward to seeing what our community creates with it." - Mike Reese, VP of Kits

World War 2 3D Models and Materials
“My favorite part about working on World War 2 was those guns. Those heavy artillery guns were so much fun to create and iterate on real world versions of them. It was super fun to transform them into something that would work for a KitBash3D Kit.” - Timo Fahrbach, 3D Modeler

“Texturing weapons was my favorite part of this Kit! I loved researching the details and recreating the battle-worn look. It was challenging and rewarding to bring these pieces to life, adding depth and realism to my work.” - Nikita Kulchitskiy, Material Artist

“Applying the materials. It was fun to add layers of damage, dirt, and more, and seeing the difference before we applied those layers and after.” - Anderson Araujo, Material Artist

What was the most challenging part about creating the World War 2 Kit?

“For this Kit we wanted to try to put damages on the walls with decals for the first time. This was really challenging to create. To overcome this was pretty much about testing it, showing it to the team, getting feedback, and trying to get the best results possible as a team.” - Anderson Araujo, Material Artist

"The most challenging part of the Kit was the destruction. There were a lot of destroyed elements and making it feel believable was difficult. We used lots of texturing techniques, simulated rubble, and spent a lot of time set-dressing each area to make sure it felt correct for the space." - Mike Reese, VP of Kits

“I certainly had troubles with the details of certain different parts of this Kit. I wasn't always certain about what part needed what details and which part should be up-resed vs which part should be lower res. After a few revisions it all came together wonderfully.” - Timo Fahrbach, 3D Modeler

Do you have a favorite asset from the Kit?

“My favorite assets are the residential cluster buildings with sloped roofs, small windows, and wooden features. I really enjoyed the texturing process, using materials like chipped plaster and weathered brick to show how the facades were affected by wartime conditions. Adding layers of decals for dirt, leaks, and cracks added extra detail. I can easily imagine an entire city filled with these buildings.” - Nikita Kulchitskiy, Material Artist

“I was most excited about creating the Church, the building that was completely collapsed on one side. We got the chance to add a bit of story, like a small sniper camp up top on one of the remaining portions of the building.” - Lienny Ruiz, 3D Modeler

My favorite assets are the town buildings. I like how each area has so much detail and how interesting they are from multiple angles." - Mike Reese, VP of Kits

“Like I mentioned before, I was super stoked about the artillery guns from this kit. I think they turned out so well, and that they'll be used in such interesting ways. Big thanks to the texturing team for making them look so cool. I'm a big fan.” - Timo Fahrbach, 3D Modeler

“I love the camp site 🙂 but I wouldn't want to be in it for sure.” - Ecbel Oueslati, Concept Artist

Is there anything about the World War 2 Kit you'd like to highlight or shout out?

“I want to highlight texture atlases of bullet holes and wall damage which was created by Anderson. This atlas provided an array of damage textures that gave the buildings a more dynamic, battle-worn appearance. From bullet holes peppering the walls to cracks and chipped concrete, the atlas added another layer of realism that elevated the entire look of the Kit.” - Nikita Kulchitskiy, Material Artist

“Huge shoutout to the texture team for making great use of decals on this Kit! A lot of the added damage on the walls was achieved through decals and they make the structures feel more naturally destroyed!” - Lienny Ruiz, 3D Modeler
