KitBash3D partnered with Epic Games to reimagine the tense, high-stakes world of Squid Game inside Fortnite. From surreal playgrounds to ominous dormitories, we developed immersive assets that merge the psychological tension of the show with Fortnite’s signature energy and interactivity. With support for gameplay mechanics like disguises, shoving, and voting, these assets were built to empower creators to design competitive, social, and narrative experiences that echo the show’s most iconic moments.

The Heart of Squid Game: The Dorm Room

At the heart of the Squid Game world lies the dorm room, a towering, almost brutalist space where players are stripped of individuality and thrown into survival as a group. For our version, we reimagined the dorm as a dynamic environment that holds both narrative tension and gameplay opportunity. We leaned into the iconic visual cues: rows of industrial-style metal bunk beds, high walls lined with ominous lighting, and surfaces that feel cold, institutional, and unwelcoming. But this isn’t just a replica, it’s a Fortnite-ready reinterpretation. We layered in custom Fortnite decals, signage, and subtle texture work to give the space its own identity while keeping it grounded in the world of Squid Game.

Inside the Maze of Color

One of the most visually striking and surreal environments from Squid Game is the colorful maze, a winding, Escher-esque corridor system that feels like a dream and a trap all at once. We embraced the architecture’s impossible geometry and bright palette, but gave it a deeper sense of materiality. With layered textures and subtle wear, the environment feels tangible and interactive, without losing its surreal edge. The maze was built with verticality and traversal in mind, offering creators the perfect setting for chase mechanics, hide-and-seek games, or decision-based pathfinding moments. It’s playful and tense in equal measure, just like the show itself.

Out in the Cornfield

The cornfield room gave us a chance to introduce a new kind of space to the Fortnite experience, one defined by concealment, misdirection, and suspense. Tall stalks stretch across a wide-open field, offering limited sightlines and endless gameplay setups, from stealth missions to chaotic last-man-standing rounds. We designed this environment with layered fog, moody lighting, and modular foliage that creators can use to shape their own pacing and tone. Whether used as a quiet showdown space or a map-spanning arena, the cornfield taps into the primal suspense that made Squid Game such a phenomenon.

Built for Suspense, Strategy, and Surprise

While the source material leans heavily into realism and emotional intensity, the Fortnite universe thrives on color, playfulness, and interaction. Finding a cohesive visual language between the two was one of the biggest creative challenges, and most exciting opportunities.

We leaned into that idea with small but powerful design choices, Fortnite-branded wall graphics in the dorm, playful props in the maze, and bright color treatments layered over otherwise haunting forms. The result is a world that feels tense but accessible, surreal yet game-ready.

From social deception and decision-making to competitive mini-games and stealth-based showdowns, these assets were made to fuel gameplay that mirrors the drama of the original series. With modularity at their core, each element is built to adapt, giving UEFN creators the freedom to remix, expand, or subvert the Squid Game experience however they choose.
