OVERVIEW

Bringing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Fortnite

When we got the call to co-create the expansion of one of pop culture’s most legendary franchises, it felt like we were gearing up alongside the Turtles to bring all of our childhood birthday wishes to life! In collaboration with Paramount and Epic Games, we’re proud to be part of the launch of Fortnite x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT), officially announced at Unreal Fest. This partnership brings iconic TMNT environments to life, giving UEFN creators everything they need to craft their own Turtle-powered adventures. The reception has been incredible so far - we even made Sports Illustrated.

A Look at the TMNT Assets New York City

To capture the spirit of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we started where their story begins: beneath the glow of New York City. This version of NYC is both a nostalgic homage and a new kind of playground, built with creators and players in mind. Drawing heavily from the 1980s cartoon, the city includes iconic locations like Channel 6 News, Clown Time Arcade, and the Foot Clan Hideout, each one designed to feel lived-in, storied, and ready for action.

From the Rabbit Hutch to Baxter’s Lab, these spaces were layered with visual callbacks, narrative potential, and modular props that support both cinematic moments and moment-to-moment gameplay. Even the signage was approached with care, blending 80s iconography with Fortnite’s stylized aesthetic.

“It wasn’t just about recreating the New York of the show, it was about making a version of NYC that felt alive, playable, and ready for storytelling.” - Mike Reese, VP of Kits, KitBash3D

Inside the Technodrome

“The Technodrome pushed us to think bigger. We had to build something vast, iconic, and functional, without losing the weird charm of the original.” - Mike Reese, VP of Kits, KitBash3D

The Technodrome presented an exciting design challenge: how do you take a massive, villainous base from a cartoon and make it feel at home in Fortnite, while still honoring its original over-the-top weirdness?

We leaned into the bold futurism of the era, filling the environment with recognizable elements like Krang’s control center, Dimension X portals, and high-tech corridors. The space was designed to feel expansive, layered, and ominous, with enough modularity to serve everything from PvE boss fights to sci-fi puzzle maps. Every room offers opportunities for storytelling, whether you're staging a villain's takeover or building a rescue mission inside enemy territory.

Inside the Turtle's Underground Lair

Hidden beneath the city, the Turtles’ lair is more than just a hideout, it’s a snapshot of four teenage heroes in their element. We built the lair as a fully explorable environment packed with personality: arcade cabinets, neon signage, junk food, skate ramps, and movie posters from another time.

At the heart of the space, Splinter’s dojo offers a moment of calm, while Donatello’s portal device serves as a narrative gateway to the rest of the TMNT world. Training props, like Foot Clan-shaped dummies, add touches of humor and gameplay possibility. Whether used as a spawn zone, mission hub, or cinematic setpiece, the lair offers creators a flexible, story-rich foundation.

Leonardo’s room is a testament to his discipline and focus, with perfectly arranged weapons and training materials reflecting his role as the responsible leader and dedicated student of ninjutsu. Michelangelo’s space, in contrast, is a chaotic haven of fun and pizza boxes, bursting with color and personality, embodying his carefree, optimistic nature—always ready for a good time, even if he’s a bit scattered. Michelangelo’s space, in contrast, is a chaotic haven of fun and pizza boxes, bursting with color and personality, embodying his carefree, optimistic nature—always ready for a good time, even if he’s a bit scattered. Donatello’s workspace is a tech-lover’s dream, filled with gadgets, blueprints, and cutting-edge technology. His meticulous, inventive mind is on full display in every corner, ready to solve problems

“Every prop in the lair, from the half-eaten pizza boxes to the Foot Clan training dummies, was a chance to show who these characters are when they’re not fighting crime.” - Mike Reese, VP of Kits

Across every asset, our goal was to balance nostalgia with utility, building Worlds that feel true to the TMNT legacy while offering tools creators can remix and make their own. Each location invites exploration, each prop supports gameplay, and each detail was crafted to evoke both memory and imagination.

Whether you're recreating scenes from the original series or inventing new adventures for a new generation, this Kit gives you the building blocks to bring the TMNT universe to life, your way.

“Our goal wasn’t just to recreate fan-favorite locations, it was to give creators the tools to build new stories in the TMNT universe. Whether you’re staging a boss fight in the Technodrome or skating through the sewers, these assets are built to inspire imagination.” - Maxx Burman, Co-Founder, KitBash3D
