This week we're releasing Enchanted, the latest addition to our Fantasy collection. Conjured from the mystical world of magical castles and whimsical villages, the Kit is overflowing with new fairy tales yet to be imagined. From an herbalist's cottage to a castle where princesses' songs can be heard from any balcony, what assets will you use to build your magical realm?

To learn more about the Kit, we spoke with the KitBash3D team of modelers, texture artists, graphic designers, and more who crafted the stories contained within in.
 

What was your favorite part about working on Enchanted?

"My favorite part about working on Enchanted was seeing all of the stories the team put together that made it into the Kit. Our modelers Lienny and Timo had a blast injecting fun and fantastical elements into the models and our texture team did a killer job bringing it all together. From the Wizard's castle to the training dummies, all of it has an air of whimsy that is so much fun to see." - Mike Reese, Head of Kits



"Enchanted was an amusing Kit to work on, finding the balance of how much we push the fantasy aspect of the architecture without making it look stylized during modeling and later on finding the right amount of contrast, variation, and grime on the textures to support the realistic look was an exciting exercise." - Luis Tornel, Asset Supervisor



"I loved working on the small details of this Kit - the books and all the signs were so fun to create. A lot of these were location based designs so I tried to create names for places of special interest and then have those tie into several different designs and the topics for spell books. The team did such a great job imbuing so much narrative and whimsy into the models that it really inspired me to think of the world that could be created around this environment." - Emily Amick, Graphic Designer



"I loved being a part of this Kit and building most of the structures for it. It's one of my favorite themes and it was a dream come true to work on a fantasy project like Enchanted. We got to experiment with new workflows to generate a bunch of roof tiles and speed up our workflow for future Kits!" - Lienny Ruiz, 3D Modeler



"My favorite part about working on Enchanted was the entire feel of it. I'm a big fan of the medieval-esque-ness of the Kit. As a modeler I find a lot of joy in looking at old medieval references and entering into that era in my mind. Creating the Kit from that and then "enchanting" it a little really itches the creative muscles in my brain. I've always been a fan of medieval fantasy so I feel extremely lucky to have been able to work on this Kit." - Timo Fahrbach, 3D Modeler

Do you have a favorite model from Enchanted?

"My favorite model is the Frothy Cauldron. To me, it represents everything in this genre that I love. It has a fun name and an interesting shape to the building, and it can evoke all sorts of silly interactions that could happen in a place like that. I want to be plopped right inside and start an adventure at the Frothy Cauldron." - Mike Reese, Head of Kits



"My favorite model is probably the Frothy Cauldron tavern. It’s a quintessential fantasy staple to have a big pub at the center of your map or as the best meeting place for your scene. There’s a cool overpass and a very classic fairytale facade that makes it a versatile piece to tell any kind of story. There are so many great exterior details and beautiful textures to this beautifully balanced piece." - Emily Amick, Graphic Designer



"For the props, hands down the training dummies and Soltor! For structures, I think the herbalist is the winner." - Luis Tornel, Asset Supervisor



"It's always so hard to choose a favorite. For structures, I love both the book store and the herbalist. They both feel very enchanted and whimsical. The tree that sticks out of the herbalist roof is so sculptural and unique, it fits the vibe of the Kit very well. As for the props, I love the dummies and the wooden fortune teller!" - Lienny Ruiz, 3D Modeler



"My favorite model from the Kit would have the be the target dummy. I think it looks so goofy and funny, while still being realistic. I love that it has its own "support system" for some of them with the barrel underneath, I think it makes it fun and realistic. The texturing job done on it just elevates it to what I could only have hoped for." - Timo Fahrbach, 3D Modeler



"My favorite buildings are the Water Mill and the Fortune Teller, I think those buildings really connected with me and made me remember from my childhood watching movies like Beauty and the Beast. I also had a lot of fun texturing Zoltar." - Anderson Araujo, Texture Artist

Is there anything about Enchanted you'd like to highlight or shout out?:

"Big shoutout to the entire team for making this Kit so fun and exciting. I can't wait to see what artists do with these assets. There are an endless amount of adventures and I am proud of the team for making each asset worthy of its own story." - Mike Reese, Head of Kits



"As with every Kit, this was a huge team effort, without the input from everyone who worked on it this would have not been possible to deliver, so a big shout out to Timo and Lienny for the great work on the models, Dan for the refinement of the rocks used on the base for some of the buildings, and Anderson and Lee for the awesome job on texturing the whole thing!" - Luis Tornel, Asset Supervisor



"Enchanted is a Kit that has so much more than what it appears to have on the surface. It’s a gorgeous world Kit that would make any fantasy environment epic, but a lot of its beauty lies in the small details and set dressing props.
